disneyland with a baby

For Carters birthday, we decided to join our friends at Disneyland for some birthday fun! Little bug + I have done Disneyland twice now so I’m no expert but thought that I’d share a few tips that helped us have a fun + successful trip to the happiest place on earth.

Where to stay: Staying as close to the park as possible is key. This allows for your little ones to go back, take a nap, crawl around (if they’re not walking yet), + just allows for some down time. We have stayed at a The Ramada, The Sheraton + just recently Howard Johnson. All are great hotels but I’d say Howard Johnson was the best for kids. It’s just a ten-minute walk to the park + has an awesome waterpark + pool for a little relaxation. A little tip – get a room with a view of the park, we could see the parks fireworks at night perfectly!

Arriving at the park: The lines in the morning to get into the park are insane! I highly suggest getting up + over to the park an hour before they open so that you’re not stuck in the security + check in lines. Tip – buy your tickets early online, this way you’re ready to head into the park once you get through security.

What to bring: I always like to pack light when going anywhere because I hate carrying things! A diaper bag is an obvious have to bring so we typically pack that and shove snacks in it along with a hydroflask for water. A must have is a stroller, the bob is great, carter naps in it too which is great for long days. We also bring a carrier, this is key for waiting in lines for rides!

Disney App: Get a maxpass! This allows you to schedule fastpass times from your phone while you’re in the park. The other great thing is the photopass. When you’re walking around the park + you see the photographs you can have your photo taken, have them scan your pass and quickly your photo will be on your phone so you can download. Also, within the app you can mobile order food within the park which is great when you’re with hungry kids!

Stroller Pass: We used this on every ride during our last trip because we were with our nephews + carter so not everyone could ride on certain attractions. You just tell the person at the fastpass entrance that you need a stroller pass and they’ll scan your pass + two others so that the other parent/adult + kids who are able to ride, can ride again! It’s great so that one person doesn’t get stuck watching the little ones all day.

Rides + attractions for baby: Any ride that doesn’t have a height restriction baby can ride. Some of our favorites to take carter on are Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, It’s a Small World + Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Our favorite attraction was the Paint the Night Parade, carter loved the lights + music. Tip, if you’re going to watch, make a reservation at Carthay Circle Restaurant or Wine Country Trattoria for their Paint the Night Parade Package. It gives you a reserved seat with a great view of the parade – definitely worth it!

Even though taking a little one to Disney is a lot of work, it’s also a lot of fun. Call me crazy but I’m already looking forward to the next Disney trip!
